A colorful and festive
French Quarter atmosphere…a carnival for the senses…A
bombastic Bourbon Street blowout…
The classic ambiance that is Mardi Gras in New Orleans
was re-created for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser in St.
Louis, MO. Guests reveled in the festivities, threw
tons of beads around the room, and danced authentic
to New Orleans-style blues with Jim Belushi and his
band.
Guests entered the room to a stunning display of
color and lighting effects. Two columns on each side
of the entrance were adorned with “light explosions” and
were draped in colorful eye-popping fabrics. A sparkling
gold sign above the entrance told them where they
were...MARDI GRAS. Huge circular vases and a
life-sized laughing court jester sculpture greeted
the guests upon their entrance.
Within the ballroom, vibrant colors of
purple, green, and gold dripped over the walls. Moving
gobo lights
projected the Mardis Gras message in the foyer.
Authentic gas lamp lanterns glowed over gorgeous rod
iron park benches. Tables were adorned in kiwi, plum,
and tangerine colored linens, and were complimented
with jewel tone square Venetian votive candles, and
napkins in purple, marigold and green.
The stage was decorated in a more
elegant black and white motif that set it apart from
the rest of the
room. On the stage, Mardi Gras themed dancing figures
emerged from the center of each of two 9’ side
panels. Antique French balconies surrounded the platform,
and an array of props and décor such as tall
Mylar sprays, colorful masks, and piles of beads littered
the stage. The music kept the joint jumpin’ as
the guests partied New Orleans-style all night long.
