Zen and the Art of Romance

An Enlightened Ceremony

An intimate gathering of family and friends. The church - a grand old monastery of dark wood, tall arches, and towering copper organ pipes. The music - mainly performed by family members. Silver candelabras of white and ivory flowers - larkspur, snapdragons, roses - arranged in cascading fashion. Running down the aisle - a white custom-made runner. Stitched into its fabric - the bride and groom’s names along with a saying: “Grow old with me. The best is yet to come.”

A Reception of Awakening

Hundreds of votives cast a soft glow to the ballroom. Tall birch trees with clusters of branches and white blooming flowers tower from the center of the tables. It’s all a magical midsummers night dream. A twinkling enchanted forest.

Visions of orchids, snapdragons, and roses. Shades of platinum and a touch of silvery lavender. A five-layer art deco style wedding cake with a flowered topping has the couple’s monogram printed on it. A silver sheer overlay draped over the tables creates dramatic textures. The ceiling is draped with flowing fabric in shades of white, pewter and silver creating a whimsical, yet romantic trellis spanning the entire ballroom. Swags of silk and crystals hang from the ceiling like the ghosts of trees surrounding a magical clearing.

On the diamond shaped dance floor, guests dance all night over a swirling image of the new couple’s names.
